Another try at mozzarella, this time using these instructions but with a longer resting time after adding the rennet (as everyone else says at least fifteen minutes). It was looking good, but I think I over-microwaved it: it went a bit bubbly around the edges, and changed from smooth and shiny to slightly grainy. Definite progress, and Mike coincidentally has a digital food thermometer on the way, which should make that stage easier next time!

Doris Lessing: purplecthulu
Yesterday: cold and bright, except in the sun when it was lovely and warm. If I was one of those people who sleeps with her phone by her bed, I'd have a lovely 5am shot of the mist and pink light. I'm not, though, so here's a 7:30am one instead:
Today: grey and moist. We took Jodie out to Pets At Home, which is *terribly* exciting, some other shops, which are nasty as she has to stay in the car, and some quite pretty woods. Jodie borrowed my hat:

Eric Sykes.
My pony has a sore bum, where he appears to have scratched it raw on a convenient fence. I was worried that it was going to be something horrible and long-lasting, but it looked a lot better today when I washed it and put cream on it, so fingers crossed that he just had a bite or something.

Yitzhak Shamir gets points for drplokta and nwhyte, but I'm still in the lead!
Mike quite liked One Man Two Guvnors, but I thought it was pants: every single character was a pretty cruel stereotype, including but not limited to The Stupid Welshman, The Dumb Blonde, The Sexy Secretary (actually, bookkeeper, but), The Loves-His-Family-But-Breaks-Your-Knees Gangster, The Elderly Waiter Who Drops Things, The Black Man and, indeed, The Embarrassed Audience Plants, and the basic gist of the play was that the audience were encouraged to laugh cruelly as the stereotypes caused people to get in trouble. Lovely.
(I've seen various reviews that say things like "a pantomime for people who think they don’t like pantomimes". I think that this just reinforces my view that I wouldn't like pantomime.)
Also, Texas Embassy has closed down. Sad face. |
