Does anyone who's going to be at Eastercon have one of those head-mountable video cameras that I could borrow for a couple of weeks?
(I'm planning Baby's sales video....) |

Gardening!

Following the removal of the bloody leylandii, I was pleased that I'd be able to have my clothes drier moved to a sunnier spot. This would also have the added advantage of it going in a new hole so that (this time) Mike could make sure it was actually properly level and upright. He made the new hole the other week, and I did the first load of line-dried laundry, and then one of the arms snapped off the drier. Oops. Mike bought a new, and tougher looking, one, and today I put out laundry out for the second time. It's a bit windy, today....

Oops.
In better news, the Zen Garden is finished! (Although next winter we might pop a dwarf cherry in, to go with the maple that is currently so twig-like you can't actually see it on the picture.)

I'm hopeful that, in a year or two, I'll be able to cut away the exposed weed-control fabric, as the nettle roots will have died off. |

Has anyone else had a begging email from LJ?
"Is your Friends page feeling a little empty? Do you have friends who haven't posted in a while you'd like to hear from again? Invite them back, and you can both get some free Paid account time as a bonus!"
Apparently, if I get the most people to come back to LJ then I get a free perm account. Which will be about as useful to me as the free paid time, given I already have one. |

Quilty

It's been a day of finishing things off, so here, have yet another post!
I've been making a quilt, mostly because I wanted to play with my new sewing machine (which is *lovely*), and today I finished off the last of the border:

I quite enjoyed doing it, although I preferred the sewing together of the bits to the actual quilting (although that was moderately fun, once I decided to make a picture). I am, however, left feeling a bit, well, first world about the whole thing: someone on the internet took some perfectly good pieces of nicely matching fabric, sliced them into ribbons and posted them to me, after which I cut them up into smaller bits and then spent a great deal of time sewing them back together in a slightly different configuration. If feels a bit like the sewing equivalent of going out and buying a jumper, unravelling it and then knitting it back into a slightly different jumper. |

A poll, over in LJ land: do I actually know anyone who's still paying to use it, or does everyone just have free or perm accounts these days? |
