Quilty

It's been a day of finishing things off, so here, have yet another post!

I've been making a quilt, mostly because I wanted to play with my new sewing machine (which is *lovely*), and today I finished off the last of the border:

I quite enjoyed doing it, although I preferred the sewing together of the bits to the actual quilting (although that was moderately fun, once I decided to make a picture). I am, however, left feeling a bit, well, first world about the whole thing: someone on the internet took some perfectly good pieces of nicely matching fabric, sliced them into ribbons and posted them to me, after which I cut them up into smaller bits and then spent a great deal of time sewing them back together in a slightly different configuration. If feels a bit like the sewing equivalent of going out and buying a jumper, unravelling it and then knitting it back into a slightly different jumper.
