I know that lots of people don't give a toss about protecting their personal information, but really, is it that much of a leap that people might be annoyed that you have given their data to a third party in order to have that third party ask if they mind their data being given to a fourth party...?

Sigh.

If you don't want email servers to keep a copy of your email address (and probably a copy of the email as well) you pretty much need to not use email. That's just one of the side effects of how the system works. All perfectly reasonable.
