Mrs Farmer phoned, a little while ago, to say she'd found a duck in the road and would we take it she'd be bringing it down to us in the morning.
(Mrs Farmer's ducks all got got by a stoat or similar a little while back, and she'd decided to stick with her chickens.)
She does know whose duck it is, but We Know What That Woman Is Like, and taking it back would be Signing A Death Warrant (her sheep are all skin and bone, and she used to have a laminitic pony with untrimmed feet, and she never shuts her ducks up at night) (no, we're not sure who That Woman is).
It's black and white and large, and she'll bring it down in the morning. Wings need clipping, but she'll show me how. There's also a white one with a pompom that's been seen around, but not for a couple of days now.
Am now going through the Pratchett wiki, looking for suitable witch names. Erzuile Gogol? Nanny Annaple? |
