I did not know that...

1) (and don't believe) the acronym "FWB" in personal ads means "fun with bea." (I forget where I saw it, but it's been faintly irritating me for days. Is it really true, and if so what does it mean? It's certainly not what I would assume it meant.)

2) (and am greatly intrigued by) the idea that one can go to a certain antiques dealer in W1 and see the River Tyburn flowing, with fish, through a decorative channel in the basement. (So says Country Life, which is usually fairly accurate. Plus, there was a photo.)

With no context more specific than "personal add", I would assume FWB means "friends with benefits"—no romantic attachment, and probably not exclusive, but looking for an ongoing thing rather than a one-night stand.

It's short for "Friends With Bears".

Sadly, bears are large, grumpy, and violent, so most people never get to finish typing "bears" before something terribly unpleasant happens.

Damn, now I want to go visit that antiques dealer next time I'm in London! In fact, they could maybe charge money to see it as a further revenue stream.
