Weather!

Last night, we were sitting on the front patio, with the Next Doors, having just finished dinner. It was hot, still and pretty much cloudless.

A funny white line appeared on the horizon, and came zooming towards us. Then a black bit followed on behind that.

The Next Doors decided that, all things considered, they'd probably be going home before the inevitable rain arrived. As we were putting the boys to bed, the leading white edge of the cloud came overhead and bits of twig started flying through the air. Shortly after, the rain, thunder and lightning started. It was all a bit biblical. Jodie was terrified, poor thing.

I do wish that I'd thought to get the time delay camera out when we first say it coming, it was incredibly dramatic. They're called shelf clouds, we later learnt.

It is Much Too Hot. The occasional thunder storms do cool it down, but only for a little while. And Jo hates them, poor thing.
