Country living...

Yesterday, and particularly last night, was fairly grim here.

GB found the most sheltered place he could, and stayed there:

(Except for the brief excursion into the Baby's stable, where he had a roll and messed the bed up! Good job that that didn't happen the other way around, or there would have been ructions.)

Today's been much better, and we're all ok: the leaking roof apparently *did* get fixed (the roofers couldn't find a crack, so they just put a layer of repair stuff on and said "pay us if it worked"), there wasn't any damage here (although my drive to Canterbury this morning was rather meandering as I dodged all the fallen trees), and we have had several power cuts but the longest was half an hour and most were only a few seconds. Unfortunately, the fields are sodden and the stableyard was full of standing water, so the boys have had to stand in all day: GB is used to it, but I'm not sure what the Baby will have thought. Oh, and our mobile phone mast appears to be either down or dead, so if you fail to get a reply to a text message... (iMessages are fine: the phone line, and internet, stayed on.)

Today, as I said, I drove into Canterbury after we'd done the boys. I continue to have failed to find a new Des; today's girl was nice enough but rather *too* quick about it, so I have little blobs of wax left on my legs. When I got home, I washed up. After that, my trousers, clean on after doing the boys, looked like this:

I have no idea, but I suspect that Dog may have something to do with it.

Does anyone else think that the fireback in our stove (our stoveback? Possibly?) looks like a moose? Or possibly a triceratops?
