Pony update

GB seems to be back to normal, stomach-wise, today: he ate all his breakfast and was very happy to get his carrot when I went to bring him from the field, and then demolished the extra bit of hay I gave him to make up for his short ration last night.

Plus, he'd drunk half a bucket of water (about normal for this kind of temperature) and had a couple of small poos in his stable overnight.

He is, however, absolutely knackered. I rode him for about fifteen minutes, and while he was ok I could feel how tired he was. I decided that that was enough and took him out for some grass instead.

I'm very, very glad that he's ok.

So glad he's all right. Yesterday sounds just terrifying.

One of my dogs had a bout with the bloat once upon a time -- but at least I could throw her in the car and drag her to the vet.

If it's really bad - surgery required - they do get taken off to the hospital, but it's a bit more involved than getting them in the car!

An odd tidbit: I learned about these problems, and therefore was able to recognize my dog's ailment in time, by reading the series All Things Great and Small.

Oh, I love ACG&S. I might have to get Mike to dig out an eBook or two for me!

Yesterday are repeating some of the BBC adaptation at the moment.

That's such encouraging news that I'm so glad to hear. Will you be able to relax now?

I think so, yes! He can have a few gentle days and then - second time lucky - he'll be properly fit again!

I suspect that you and everyone else involved is also 'absolutely knackered'. Well done to everyone for not making a drama out of a crisis. Glad that you've all survived.

It's sad the way we animal people get obsessed with poo...

I am rather. My arms are killing me, from hauling him around yesterday! I was lucky that there were helpful people there. Not to say that anyone randomly there wouldn't have helped out, but it was useful that I was riding with Toni, whose immediate reaction was to use her well-trained riding instructor lungs to yell "Mum! Dad! Vet! Help!" across the yard!

Oh that is good news.

Very happy he's ok and I wish you much horse poop and equine farts.

[g] Poo! It's great!

It's a great relief to hear this. And actually, I won't complain so much about my cats throwing up now and then when I consider the alternative.

You're lucky re: the cat vomit, really: can you imagine trying to make a cat walk around if it didn't want to?

That is good news.
