I observe that the announcement of a drought made the weather switch from being lovely and sunny to pouring with rain.

Today, they cancelled the hosepipe ban, and the sun came out.

Still, it was nice to ride in the sunshine!

It worked the same way in 1976. They appointed a Minister for Drought, and the heavens opened. Two weeks of torrential rain.

We also had bizarre TV news footage of people wading knee-deep through flooded streets to fill buckets from standpipes because their domestic water supply had been cut off.
