Mighty hunter!

I've got a pheasant hanging up out back, and this time she even managed to get a hen! (And got it on the roadside verge, so not anyone's property, although points do get taken away for it being out of season.)

Inevitably, she did it right at the start of the walk, so when I got to the point where the route out crossed the route back I wedged it in a tree branch to collect later. When we got back, there was a chap with two spaniels who was completely unable to figure out why he couldn't get his dogs to walk past that particular tree....

Because my mother complained about the absence, here's a picture of the finished Flying Birds quilt:

and a close-up of the quilting:

Next quilt is in progress, but as-yet has no particularly photogenic parts. It includes four dolphins, and I'm slightly concerned that the green one is going to merge into the blue/green batik that I'm using for the water. Annoyingly, I won't be able to properly decide until I've finished making the whole fiddly creature.

Mike went to the dentist today, for the third try at fixing a tooth that she's now just taken out. Before that, though, he was on Bloomberg Radio talking about property prices. What do you mean, you weren't listening at before-7-am? What do you mean, you've never heard of Bloomberg Radio...?

(Speaking of, I stuck the radio on while I was making lunch and got Actress Giving Speech About Refugees, so I hit the button for the World Service and got more of the same. Figuring I must have been on the WS to start with, I hit Radio 4 and there she was again. I swapped back to the WS on the grounds that at least they'd have the news headlines at the half hour, and they bloody didn't. Most irritating. I did, briefly, think about trying 4 Extra, but then I realised that that would probably be joining in the party by repeating a random comedy about refugees or something.)

Yesterday, we planted out courgettes, beans, mange tout, the early tomatoes and some of the later ones, and the herbs. Now, we are crossing our fingers that the (slight) frost of the night before really was the last one for a while. Still to go are more tomatoes and baby corn, and I really must get the last of the ornamentals planted out. And move those daffs. And re-pot the veg that's not being planted out. And.....
