Today, we went to see Rum, who seemed like a possible: currently owned by, and advertised as being great for, a teenager who wants to bomb around jumps, but previously owned by an older woman who did dressage. I can see why she got rid of him. Sweet, if a bit grabby, but in too much of a hurry for my liking. Mike liked him more than I did, but not quite enough. Advertised as a native-cross-something; my guess would be Welsh-cross-TB.

He was at a livery yard where they all live out in summer and come in at night in winter. As we were chatting, they were saying that he needed to go as they'd bought him on the assumption that they'd have shifted the *other* horse they had up for sale before they came in for the winter: there wasn't a spare stable for him. I idly asked what the other horse was, and we ended up having a go on Pedro as well. More than we'd been looking to spend (but, given the circumstances, and the fact that it will mean the teenage boy can keep his beloved Rum, they might be open to a reduction), but a lovely cob, very nice paces, nice and smooth.... The only thing that worries me is that his front feet swing out to the side in trot: I have a niggle in the back of my head that this is a specific Bad Thing, but I'm not sure if that's just bad from a showing point of view or an actual structural problem. It's visible in the video Mike shot, though, so I'll see what Riding Instructor says.

(Ah, good old Google: it's called dishing. I knew it was a thing. T'interwebs are variable about how much of a problem it actually is, and whether or not the farrier can help / fix it. Hmm.)
