Just had the vet on the phone with the results of the poo and blood tests from last week: GB's got a zero for worms, Baby has a 50 (eggs per gram). That's the next level up from a zero, and really not a problem, but very curious: he's always had a zero before, and I'm pretty much sure he can't have picked anything up from the field or from GB, so.... (Of course, it's possible that he's previously been a 24 and is now a 26, or similar.) Anyway, they'll be getting a wormer in a month or two anyway, for stuff you can't test for, so that'll clear it all up.
GB's blood numbers, on the other hand, were more worrying: quite a big jump (130, up from about 30 last time), even allowing for this being the bad time of year for Cushings. He's going up to two pills a day (from one and a half), and another test in a month or two to see how it's going: he'll love that.
I was going to take Jo to the vet as well this week (I need to go in anyway to get duck and dog wormers, and she's about due for her six monthly check up), because she's been very stiff when she wakes up from her afternoon nap, lately, and she's been scratching more than usual. But then I thought to check, and she's due for her jabs at the start of next month so I'll get the wormers without her and take her in then instead. |
