Lately, I have been Far Too Busy with Worldcon stuff.

And we painted all the bits of the outsides of the stables that don't require drastic sanding and re-rendering.

This morning, we took the boys out for a hack, for the first time in ages. GB was a spooky little bugger, culminating in breaking into a canter on the road when I made him go past some cows. Sigh. Note to self: must take Baby out for a good long hack and blow some cobwebs off him.

The hop is continuing to 'not show much growth in the first year', although it does keep trying to make a break for freedom and head up vertically, instead of going along the top of the window: Mike has to keep getting up there on the ladder and pushing it back into place. Odd, because I thought that that was how they grow them commercially: up a vertical and then along. Possibly it needs to be higher before it's happy with the concept of 'along', or possibly the wall is fooling it into thinking that there's something there for it to grow up. (The sunflower's doing pretty well, too.)

Tomatillos are, it turns out, self fertile: we did have two, but I went to water them one day and found that something had apparently eaten through the base of the stem of one of them. The internet give conflicting advice, but there are at least three fruits on it, and lots more flowers still to come:

Up in the woods, on the other hand, some of the Willow Herb is now taller than I am:
