Last night, the boys weren't in the mood to come in for their dinner, and we weren't in the mood to climb the hill and get them, so we left them for a few more hours, at which point they meandered in. Not sure what was going on, but it looked as though GB was stopping Baby from coming in. GB zapped himself on the gatepost a couple of weeks ago, and has been very cautious about walking through it since then, and then the night before last he came down to the stable yard only to realise that Baby had gone off in the opposite direction and left him alone. I suspect that that was probably what made him wary of going in: he didn't want Baby to not follow him, but on the other hand Baby is obviously not allowed to go first.... Well, fewer hat nets to fill, and we'll see what they do tonight.
This pretty little leaf is popping up a lot:
 Any guesses?
Bubbly!

Anemones

As we were taking pooch out for her walk this afternoon, Mrs Top Of The Hill said hello, and we stopped and chatted slightly. She was just frost-protecting her veg patch, in preparation for Friday/Saturday's forecast.
I figured that it couldn't hurt, so I asked if I could dig up some of the anemones in her woods; she obviously wasn't keen on Someone Else In Her Woods, because she immediately countered with an offer to bring me some.
She's just popped down with a box of them, and I've planted them out in half a dozen spots in the front garden, to see where (if anywhere) they take.
(This, after two hours of weeding this morning. I remembered to wear long sleeves, today. The bastard nettles got me on the wrists instead. And, scarily, through my trousers as I was emptying the wheelbarrow.) |
