It's been almost entirely dry for days now, it's lovely.
The boys have been out in the field for three days in a row, which should be entirely normal but seems to be unusual lately. One day, they even went out without their coats on, and got lovely and muddy.
(Dearie me, that window's a bit filthy isn't it?)
We had bohemiancoast and co staying over the weekend, which I think is the first time we've had both visitors and decent weather since we moved. Sunday in particular was glorious. We went up off for a walk in some woods we don't normally go to. They'd obviously had some serious winds there, there was one patch of trees where it looked like every other tree had come down:

Getting there was a little bit of a mission. As well as the once-a-decade occasional river in the next valley over, the once-a-century one a bit further away has also started flowing now:
I do feel sorry for the people who live alongside it, but it looked like they'd had notice and enough time to stock up on sandbags and get someone to come in with a digger to make a channel for the water.
(The army are down at the nearby occasional river, today, presumably doing similar things.)
As I was taking the pooch out earlier, I saw an Environment Agency van just heading up the hill. I guessed that she'd probably been checking the level in the well over the road, so I dashed over while she was doing the gate and asked how it was going. The water's at 8m down, and she said she remembers it normally as being at around 40m. |
