Stoned pooch

Jodie went in for he spaying today. She's rather stoned, now, and occasionally lurches into things when she tries to walk. Not remotely interested in food, and really much happier if we just all stay in the same room so that she doesn't have to figure out where we've gone and then walk, like, all the way over to find us....
GB spent the whole time he was being mucked out, and the whole time he was being ridden, trying to figure out where she was. I don't think it was anything so soft-hearted as affection, I just think he wanted to make sure that the wolf couldn't jump out and get him. The boys are incredibly bored, and were rather fizzy when we rode them (Baby even had a buck at one point! So did GB, but it was just his usual, so we didn't really notice). If it would just stop raining for a few days hours, we might be able to get them into the field. Sigh.
We did put them in the school for an hour after we rode them, to see if they'd have a little romp around. As far as we can tell, they barely moved until we came to bring them in. I was picking up some poo, and Mike committed the grave sin of paying attention to the Baby when GB was being ignored. That lead to a nice five minutes of them running around in circles kicking their heels up, so at least they burnt some more energy off!
I suspect that, once the morphine wears off, Jodie will be just as bored as the boys, if not more so: we've been told that the only exercise she's allowed for the next week is to be taken out on the lead for long enough to go to the loo. Not sure how that's going to work out, but it doesn't sound fun: she gets bored and fretful when she gets walked in the morning and has the whole afternoon sitting around doing nothing, so a week of it will be fun. |
