"I literally don't know anyone who voted Leave"

1) You think?

2) I was at a fannish party this afternoon. My list of fannish Leave voters has gone up, only by two or three but then I didn't speak to everyone there, and don't know many of the people well enough to say.

I know someone who did, and the argument was they'd originally joined a trading collective, not a potential Federal States of Europe ruled from Brussels.

As simple as that, and it's a reasonable argument.

Another is, (though not one they gave), is that the benefits of belonging to the EU hasn't been shared equally. You should've seen this coming...

I do think that the dynamics of public social media discourse can create pictures that aren't necessarily a true reflection of people's underlying private opinions. In the Australian election there were at least two single issue parties standing on a platform of a new digital model of democracy based on direct online polling. Right now, I feel that information security and privacy provisions would need to be a hell of a lot better than they are for that to be a viable model.

The current method for selecting an Australian government isn't working very well at the moment though, is it? :)
