"Oh!" said Mike

"We've got a rhododendron!"

He's right, as well. And it turns out that our chestnut *is* flowering, just only very high up and not on the side facing the house: I suspect that this may be leylandii-related, so hopefully we'll get more of a display next year.

Anyone know what this is? I'm failing at identifying it, not least because I can't decide if it has five tiny pink flowers arranged in a circle or one bigger pink and green flower. There's a little patch of them on the lane, and none anywhere else that we've seen.

They've finally managed to take down the tree that split in the storms around Christmas:

Jodie found it a little warm, on her walk today. She dashed off ahead of me, at one point, and when I caught up with her she was having a nice wallow:

When I got back, I let the boys into the other half of the field. I'm gradually building them up to a whole day in there because I don't want them to eat themselves sick! They were very pleased to get to go in there.

I then went to fill up the bird feeders. Annoyingly, it appears that those plastic boxes aren't actually mouse-proof. I'd better get some traps, hadn't I?

I feel absolutely fine today. I have no idea what was going on, but I'm glad that it's over!
