One of those days.

So, after failing to have a riding lesson (cancelled due to too much rain forecast) and a visit from the roof guy who lives down the road (not too exorbitant to put a fibreglass patch on it, but it will then need either replacing with fibreglass entirely or having the lead replaced within a couple of years), we did in fact manage to ride, during a dry spell, which was nice.

Then Mike complained that his finger was sore. It's been sore for a while (my suspicion is that he's got a grass seed or similar trapped under the cuticle), and he went to Minor Injuries a week and a bit ago, where they drained it and said to come back if it didn't improve. It did, but today it was definitely red again, so he decided to go back. Last time, I didn't go with him and probably should, as he's squeamish* and felt a bit woozy when he needed to drive home. Today, I did, and took the pooch with the plan of taking her for a little walk while we waited and then having a slightly late lunch when we got home.

* I learnt at weekend that his brother is even worse, to the extent that the kids know to go and get mum if dad hurts himself at all because he might pass out. Next time I see her, I shall be asking brother number three's wife if he's the same way.

The sign at the entrance said "90 minute wait", so it turned into a proper walk, down along the beach and on the cliffs, getting utterly drenched when the rain made a return appearance. Still, the pooch enjoyed it. Slightly worried that her bootie was soaked through, but not much I could do about it: I'd not brought the spare, as it was drying on the Aga after getting a bit wet this morning.

When we got home, it was after 3pm, and we still hadn't let the WWOTV's dogs out for their lunch time trip to the loo, so we grabbed bread and cheese and went to see them, then we grabbed another bit of bread and cheese before it was time to bring the boys in (fortunately, they came in beautifully. Hopefully, we've broken the habit. Baby first seems to be oddly better than GB first), and then it was very belatedly time to take Jodie's soggy bootie off and wash her foot.

At which point I realised that a flap of dead skin had come entirely off the wound but still had a stitch going through it, ideally placed so that when she pulls the skin off the stitches will rip.

So now I'm off up to the vets' again.

Sigh.

ETA: the vet took the flap off, and took out the last of the stitches, too. It actually looks a lot better now that they're gone, and there's barely any redness. She's still got to have her bootie for a week or so, but at least we won't be making our regular Friday afternoon trip to the vet this week! (Hopefully....)
