A down side of having a house is that it has a roof.

More specifically, we suspect, it's the flat roof above the window. It's lucky that I noticed the dripping noise when I was getting undressed last night, and didn't go with my initial assumption that it was coming from outside. It's also lucky that it was in the dressing room, and not in, say, the similarly-windowed second spare bedroom, the door to which is often not opened from month to month: might have to have a weekly check of the rooms we don't use very much, in future.
