Bugs

I've just had a really positive session on Bugs, which is really heartening after the trouble we've been having: I've gone very much back to basics with him, and it seems to be having results.

We started off with a bit of lunging, which went fairly well: he's getting better at halting and standing still, rather than coming in towards me (which is probably what he was trained / allowed to do before), and there wasn't a hint of running off (even when he spooked slightly at a dust mote, he just trotted faster).

Then I climbed on board, and straight away got a nice walk and trot with minimal nagging. He spooked once, started to strike off for a mad dash canter, and then changed his mind almost before I'd had time to react, and later on he stiffened up as though something had scared him but just carried on trotting again: really good progress!

I didn't canter him, because I didn't want to risk spoiling a good session when he was a bit twitchy already (the light was going, and it's cold!), but I'm really pleased with how he's getting on.
